"Pretty hurts, We shine the light on whatever's worst, Perfection is a disease of a nation" - Beyonce'

Song title "Pretty Hurts" - Couldn't have said it better.

Research has shown a surprising result in the area of business and beauty connected, studies show that employees considered to be more attractive are more commonly being paid more and receiving more promotions than those considered to be less attractive, one study of MBA graduates showed a 10 to 15% difference in earnings. But the other flip side is in another study it showed that females of a high business standing were often credited for their achievements based off their good looks and not their intelligent brains, these successful women also received more criticism from other females rather than males in the same business.

A psychologist study also showed the emotional and mental pressure put on what they classed as highly attractive people can have a incredibly unhealthy affect on their mental health. A person hearing how physically appealing they are constantly gives them the belief that they must up keep this state of "perfection" forever, and that those comments define who they are. As we know no one can be perfect, so this creates an exhausting spiral of emotions that can cause anxiety and depression.

What happens when we strive for perfection is we focus on our imperfections and try to fix them endlessly.

This robs us of joy and can crush our spirit inside. This applies to anyone with any belief of beauty, if we feel inadequate or unworthy and we are basing that thinking off how we look that can be an endless rut we will struggle to get out of.

What's a solution?

Mindful compliments is a good place to start.

Mindful compliments are more than just skin deep, complimenting someone's character or qualities forces you to look deeper at someone and also puts value on the qualities within and makes them the focus of praise. This not only takes the physical stress off of the person receiving the compliment but encourages motivation for them to look within.

Be observant, look at how people treat others, look at how they speak or how they listen.

Those inner qualities are worth praising and those inner characteristics are worth calling "Beautiful"

Bare and Rose.
